    Cable modems have a dynamic IP address, so you will need to go into the routers diagnostics screen and set it to automatically detect the IP settings. You would have had to manually type the IP settings for the DSL to work as they use a static IP address. On that diagnostics page, switch the router to accept the automatic DHCP configuration. Once done, power cycle the modem, and you are good to go.

    If you do not know how to access your routers diagnostics page, type 192.168.1.1 into the internet browser, and use admin for both user name and password. Then go to the page under the status tab that has your IP info on it, and simply change in the drop down box from static ip to automatic configuration.
