Why wont my Linksys USB Wireless adapter pick up my Linksys wireless network?

Im hooking up a second desktop computer, and I have DSL for my original desktop and Linksys for my laptop. I thought the usb wireless adapter would work out, but it says "no wireless networks were found in range". It shouldn’t do that! What do I do?

    reset your network by turning it off then on
